If Sunday was any indication, the NFL season is already refusing to follow the script.

The day started with Philadelphia looking like it might let one slip away in Tennessee. Instead, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles found a way in the final seconds, rallying for a 24-20 victory. DeVonta Smith was electric, and Philadelphia walked out of Nashville still unbeaten.

Up in Foxborough, the Patriots made a statement of their own. New England’s defense suffocated Pittsburgh in a 20-3 win, turning a competitive game into a one-sided affair. The Steelers simply couldn’t generate enough offense, while the Patriots capitalized on their opportunities.

Dallas brought plenty of fireworks against Washington, with Dak Prescott throwing four touchdown passes in a 37-20 Cowboys victory. San Francisco was equally impressive, cruising past Miami 35-13, while Seattle overwhelmed Arizona 31-7.

But the headline belonged to Kansas City.

The Chiefs and Colts saved the best for last, trading punches throughout a wild Sunday night matchup. Patrick Mahomes threw for 382 yards and three touchdowns, but Indianapolis refused to go quietly. Tied 30-30 after regulation, the game headed to overtime before Harrison Butker drilled a 40-yard field goal to give Kansas City a 33-30 victory.

One Sunday, plenty of drama, and more than enough storylines to carry the NFL into Week 3.
