On Saturday, February 22, 2025, the Brooklyn Nets edged out the Philadelphia 76ers 105-103 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The game concluded with a dramatic buzzer-beater by Nets center Nic Claxton, who secured an offensive rebound and scored the game-winning layup just before time expired. 

The first half saw the Nets establish a significant lead, outscoring the Sixers 63-52. Philadelphia struggled defensively, allowing 40 points in the opening quarter—more than they conceded in any quarter during their previous game against the Boston Celtics.  Offensively, the Sixers were plagued by turnovers and miscommunications, leading to a lack of cohesion on the court.

In the second half, the Sixers mounted a comeback, narrowing the deficit and eventually tying the game late in the fourth quarter. Tyrese Maxey played a pivotal role in this resurgence, contributing 31 points, while Quentin Grimes added 16 points. Joel Embiid, despite dealing with a knee issue, managed to score 14 points. 

For the Nets, Cameron Johnson led the team with 23 points, including a crucial three-pointer that tied the game late in the fourth quarter. Nic Claxton’s performance was also noteworthy, as he recorded 16 points, nine rebounds, and five blocks, in addition to his game-winning tip-in. 

This victory improved the Nets’ record to 21-35, while the Sixers fell to 20-35, marking their seventh consecutive loss. The game was attended by 20,431 fans, who witnessed a thrilling finish that underscored the unpredictable nature of the NBA season.
