Football season is finally here, which means I’m once again preparing myself emotionally for Falcons football. I’ve decided this is the year I will remain calm, reasonable, and completely rational.
That should last about three games.
There’s plenty to watch this season, starting with the quarterback situation. Michael Penix Jr. is working his way back, while Tua Tagovailoa brings experience to the mix. I’m not saying I’ll be analyzing every quarterback decision like I’m on the coaching staff, but I’m also not saying I won’t be yelling at my TV most of the time.
I’ll definitely be watching Bijan Robinson. The man is ridiculously fun to watch, and I’m hoping he gives us plenty of moments that make me jump off the couch and scare everyone in the house.
Drake London and Kyle Pitts are also high on my list. I’m ready for big plays, big catches, and fewer moments where I’m staring at the screen wondering, “What exactly are we doing here?”
Then there’s the defense. I’d love to see some pressure, some turnovers, and maybe just maybe a fourth quarter where I’m not pacing around the living room like I’m waiting for important test results. Because we all know we can score 20 plus but also give up 30 plus.
Mostly, I’m watching to see if this team can finally put everything together.
Because every year I say I’m going to be realistic.
And every year, somewhere deep down, I think:
“Maybe just maybe we can make a playoff push”
That’s being a Falcons fan though.
Rise Up!
